Anxiety was the theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week.
“We had a very enjoyable afternoon at Art4Space on 17 May as we marked Mental Health Awareness Week (15 – 21 May),” says Anna D’Agostino, Healthwatch Lambeth’s Engagement Officer (pictured at the event at its Stockwell studios).
“We partnered with Art4Space to set up a creative and interactive event, exploring the theme of Coping with anxiety through art. The programme included a short talk to raise awareness on Healthwatch Lambeth and our work, a mindful colouring session and over an hour spent creating colourful mosaics with a variety of materials. Participants had fun and reflected on the benefits of using their creative skills to manage anxiety. Felt “relaxed”, “creative”, “inspired” were some of the words people used to express how they felt during the workshop, which they found “very helpful”.
