Open Morning to open doors – March 5

Plans are afoot for the first Living Well Open Morning of 2020, which will focus on employment and volunteering and be held at Mosaic Clubhouse on Thursday March 5, 11am-1pm. Click here for the poster.

The event follows 2019’s successful series, which rounded off with the clubhouse hosting the Young Adults Open Morning and attended by Helen Hayes, then labour candidate and subsequently MP for Dulwich and West Norwood. There were stalls a plenty and lots of opportunities and great conversations.

Helen praised the work of Mosaic and other organisations in the room and stressed the importance of investing in young people’s mental health and opportunities for their future.

Earlier at the Clubhouse , Helen met with the Carers Mental Health Forum where discussions included increased mental health funding, commitment to delivering support and increase carer’s allowance to match Job Seekers Allowance, as well as greater discharge planning and commitment to pay increase for NHS staff. Putting service users and carers at the heart of the
Mental Health Act legislation, the Social Care System and unpaid carers missing from support and information were also up for discussion. Health watch were also present to collect feedback on plans for Lambeth Hospital.

Carers also had a chance to drop into the Open Morning were they could hear about support, volunteering, training and job opportunities from stalwarts at Mosaic and others including First Step Trust, SRA (Southside Rehabilitation Association) SLaM (South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust) – Involvement Register and Recovery College, Lambeth Young Carers, Certitude, Thames Reach, IPSA (Integrated Personalised Support Alliance), Healthwatch Lambeth, Loughborough Farm, the Well Centre, Pret a Manger and the creative collaborations of Leap Confronting Conflict.

Special thanks to Michael Adegboye (pictured with Helen Hayes), Engagement Worker at Mosaic Clubhouse – who organised the event and to James Holdcroft, Service Coordinator – Mental Health Carers, Lambeth Carers Hub for carers’ input.
